  1. I am a senior citizen with back issues. We recently remodeled our house and we have wood floors and area rugs as well as 2 bedrooms that are carpeted. What vacuum/ vacuums would you recommend. Ideally I would like a device that will clean everything while protecting my new wood floors.

    1. Dear Barbara,

First of all thanks for contacting me.

My opinion is that if you are having back issues, you should let a robot do the work for you. You can check out the Roomba robots that I strongly recommend.

They work very well on carpets and they don’t leave scratches on the floors.

However, if you want a normal vacuum cleaner, I recommend the Shark TruePet Ultralight HV322. It has an ergonomic design that will be gentle for your back condition.

Please let me know if I can be of any other help.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin

  2. I would like to add to your reply to Barbara Feldman.
I am also a senior citizen with back issues and chose a Roomba for that reason. I just got a Roomba i7, which I don’t see mentioned in your reviews, only the i7+. It is an amazing and very clever little machine. However, it weighs about 8 pounds and needs to be picked up from time to time, for example to empty its small bin, which is a strain on the back. There is an expensive addition one could buy that causes it to empty itself. With that addition, it would be almost perfect for a bad back.

    1. Dear Marie,

First of all thanks for your addition.

      I couldn’t make a better addition myself.

      Thank you again.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin

  3. Hi Kevin,

I am also a senior with back and shoulder issues. I recently had new carpeting installed and can no longer use my Featherlight Dirt Devil. I need some sort of drive system/ self propelling vacuum. The height adjustment for the carpet needs to be available as well. Mine is self adjusting, but I can’t push it on this new carpet. Suggestions? Thank you!

    1. Dear Merrie,

I am pleased to meet you.

I can advise you to look at the robot vacuums. They are doing a great job on carpets, so you don’t have to hurt your back. Please check out the Best Robot Vacuum for Carpets.

I can understand if you are looking for a regular model. Therefore, I would like to suggest the Hoover React Upright Vacuum Cleaner. The reason I would buy this and not another model is due to its ergonomic design that will help you work without causing you back pains.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin
