  1. I know this was in the questions but I continue to feel like the answer we get to this question is never very straight forward. We just had engineered hardwood installed and all guides say that these need to be well maintained by keeping them clean and dust free. We would love to get a roomba BUT all models and all brands of robot vacuums have a rotating brush. This is the one thing that all hardwood floor manufacturers agree SHOULD NOT be used on the hardwood floors. If this brush can not be turned off when on the wood, how can we be guaranteed that the rubber brush on the roomba will not do ANY damage to the finish of the wood floors. We want to get one but my husband is not convinced that they won’t cause damage.

    1. Dear Lindsay,

First of all thanks for contacting me.

Roombas are great devices for hard floors and they even are appropriate for hardwood one. If it is properly working, the Roomba won’t do any damage. However, if the wheel gets jammed, it can cause scratches.

My honest recommendation is to buy one but not let it unattended for too long. Particles of plastic or sand can get stuck in the wheels and cause damage.
      Hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin

    1. Dear Nicki,

First of all, thanks for contacting me.

Theoretically, Roombas have the capacity to map only one floor. However, they have the capacity to map multiple rooms. That means, if your Roomba finds a closed door, it will create a new map.

Now, I can tell you that I move mine from one level to the other once a week, and it works just fine. It needs a few minutes to figure out the floor, but in the end, the job is a success.

For more details, you can check Roomba’s official FAQ section

      Kind regards,
      Kevin

  2. I’ve been looking for a robot vacuum because I have 3 long haired dogs (some as long as 6-8″) and had duramax flooring installed, which requires as much, if not more, consideration than hardwood.. I think I know which iroomba I want, but I haven’t been able to find maintenance info, like filter/brush replacement and associated costs. Can you help?
    Thank you!
