  1. Nice blog. It will surely help beginners update their knowledge. The efforts you have put in to create the posts are quite interesting. Looking forward to seeing you soon in a new post.
Today, vacuum cleaner is no longer a single product. It has a complete profile of its own. Handheld, stick, upright, canister, bagless, backpack, constellation, to name a few. But the latest one which everyone has been raving about is the self-propelled vacuum cleaner.

    1. Hi, glad you are interested in my blog, I think the self-propelled vacuum cleaner is a perfect choice. This kind of vacuum cleaner will make you surprise and enjoy it as it’s easy to use and suitable for everyone. Thanks.

  2. Good list of options and very well written….just to add, be aware that thick carpets need low suction power – I made this mistake and almost damaged the fiber of my beautiful carpet. You need to adjust the suction if you have a multi surface vacuum.

    1. Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.
You are correct. Thick carpets do need gentle power to get rid of dust. Just as stated in the article, the moderate and strong suction power will destroy the carpet fibers.
If you have multiple floor types, my best advice to you is to find a model that lets you adjust the suction.
If you have any other suggestions, don’t hesitate to write to me again,
      Kevin.

  3. I just just installed medium plush carpet (45 oz polyester) last week and to my surprise my Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional does not work on the carpet. I changed the filters and washed the canister before trying it on my new carpet. I tried both of the setting and it does not move. My vacuum is only a year old and I would rather not invest in another one. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    1. Hello,

      Thank you for your comment.

You are probably using too much suction. Medium and high pile carpets need more tender suction. This way, not only it doesn’t destroy the fibers but it is also easier to move around.

Did you try it on other surfaces after cleaning it? Maybe you misplaced a component. This is also a possibility.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to write to me again,

      Kevin.

  4. Just bought a Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional for my medium plush carpet. Even at the lowest suction setting it clamps down on the carpet and is very difficult to move. Have to return it and try something else.

    1. Hello PJJones,

First of all thanks for contacting me. I am sorry that you have difficulties with this model. It is actually a very good one. What kind of carpet do you have? The material used for its manufacturing can interfere with the capacities of the vacuum cleaner. And this applies to all vacuum models.

Because of this, I can only suggest you to look for a vacuum cleaner suited for the material your carpet was made of.

Please let me know if I can be of any other help.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin

  5. Hi,
I have a very thick plush nylon fiber carpet manufactured by Fabrica. My existing vacuum is a Dyson and I simply cannot even move it across the carpet. Which vacuum cleaner do you think would best serve me in helping to keep my carpet clean and beautiful?

    1. Hello Joy,

First of all thanks for contacting me.

I want to start by suggesting you read the full instructions that Fabrica offers https://www.fabrica.com/files/CarpetCare.pdf.

Even though they don’t specifically recommend a model of vacuum cleaner, I tend to agree with what their competitor Unique Carpets have to say. They recommend the Sanitaire SC888K model for dealing with nylon fiber carpets.

You can find a full review of this vacuum in the link below but if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me again.

  6. Hi Kevin
After spending the last two days looking for the correct vacuum cleaner I am still confused.
I replaced my laminate flooring for a lovely plush carpet and bought a Hetty but it was not suitable I was pulling over the carpet rather than pushing!
I only have the one room carpeted as I am in a one bed flat but I am desperate to decide which vacuum to choose?
I don’t have the actual make of carpet unfortunately
    Thank you for any advice

    1. Dear Cretia,

First of all thanks for contacting me.

If I were you I would definitely go with the New Miele Complete C3 Brilliant. I know that it may look as a more expensive product, but it is worth every penny.

Not only does it come with 2 brush rolls (one for the hard floors and one for the carpet), but it also has a HEPA filtration system.

Please let me know if I can be of any other help.

      Kind regards,
      Kevin
